Masaki "Mac" Ryugou is a supporting character in UNIVER.SYS. He is a TAN (Technological Anthropomorph) from Prismage, and member of its Monochroma unit.
History
Mac's earliest concept design dated back to 2021, however his first published design was posted to Twitter in February 6, 2023.[1]. His page in OS-tans.moe was published in April 12, 2023.
Character
Mac has an outspoken and resourceful personality. He is known for his monochrome illustrations, which combine different textures and patterns to depict scenarios or tell a story. Some of his artworks can be curious and quirky, as he often works around with less colors as possible. In addition to his illustration skills, he is also adept in product design.
Even though Mac is praised for his skills, his complacency and pride in being "unique" sometimes cause him to take criticisms personally, often becoming upset if others dismiss his artworks. This is something Mac has to work on when competing in the artistic field.
Trivia
- Mac is the personification of the original Apple Macintosh computer and its OSes (Macintosh System 1, 2 and 3) and in extension, the Compact Macintosh line.
- The name Masaki (雅樹) in Japanese means "Elegant Tree", which refers to the Macintosh's elegant design and its apple cultivar-derived name[2] (hence "tree").
- His last name Ryugou refers to the old reading of 林檎 (ringo), which is Japanese for apple.[3]
- His favorite foods are candy apples and cheese dishes.
