Yukina Ryūsen is a character in UNIVER.SYS. She is a Techne from Prismage.

History

Yukina is published to Moeverse on July 15, 2024, but she has no visual design yet.

Character

Yukina is often seen as docile and polite at first glance, being more proper than her predecessors. However, she displays a more outgoing and competitive side as an idol, striving to bring color and flair to the stage as Prismage’s new talent, including her skills in glass art and her crystal-clear voice. In her early years, Yukina struggles with keeping cool under pressure in her performances, however she later improved, and gained a large fanbase.

Even if she’s eager to prove herself, Yukina prefers to be cooperative and encourage others rather than bringing them down, even for her rivals. She often collaborated with fellow Iconochroma members such as Corinne and Aurora, and has a good relationship with Mina despite their rivalry on stage.

Technical

  • Yukina represents the Macintosh II series, the successor of the original Apple Macintosh line. By extension, she also represents Mac System 4 and 6.
  • Her name can be written as 雪菜, with the 雪 character (yuki), meaning snow. This references the Snow White design language, first used in Apple IIc’s design, and extensively used for the Macintosh II series.
    • Her last name Ryusen is three letters apart from Ryugou (Lisa and Masaki’s last name), symbolizing Mac II’s ties to the original Mac, yet also being different.
  • Her meek and docile first impression, and her early struggle to prove herself as an idol are derived from how the Mac II’s development was kept secret due to Steve Jobs’ disapproval of color and expandability on the Macintosh, and only proceeded after he quit Apple in 1985. [1]
    • Her outgoing and competitive side are derived from the success of Mac System 4 and 6 despite their rough and troubled start, and the inclusion of cooperative multitasking. [2]

  • Yukina loves to party, and often hosts movie nights, with her personal favorite being action movies, which references Mac II’s beer-related codenames, and System 6’s codenames SixPack and Terminator. [3] [4]
  • Her colorful yet elegant style were inspired by both Masaki and Alan, the latter referencing how the Mac II was inspired by the Apple II line.
  • Her interest in glass art references the promotional images of the Mac II, which has glass spheres. [5]
