Vistar (Japanese: 美星, びすたー) is an OS-tan personifying Windows Vista.[1]

History

The designer of Vistar is anonymous, only listed as the generic Futaba username Toshiaki (としあき). The date May 20, 2007 was mentioned in the character's main page, so it was possible she debuted at that time or before that.[2] She was also available as a downloadable Ukagaka/Ghost program shell.[2]

Artworks of Vistar on pixiv were present as early as October 26, 2007.[3]

Portrayals

Vistar is portrayed as a girl with teal hair styled in twintails with star hair decorations, and a black, light blue, and white dress reminiscent of an idol singer's outfit.[4]

She is also depicted with a mascot of a yellow block with horns and USB tail, possibly representing Longhorn.[1]

While not much is known about Vistar's personality, derivative interpretations of her exist.

Trivia

  • Due to the kanji spelling of her name, Vistar is sometimes erroneously called Mihoshi.
