Risuke Matsushita (Japanese: 松下 利助, Matsushita Risuke) is a character personifying the prominent Japanese brand, Panasonic.

Appearance

Risuke has dark gray hair and chocolate brown eyes. Unlike Kuniha, his female counterpart, his clothing is more modern. He wore an indigo business suit with a white lapel on the right. Underneath the suit was a white uniform with a light indigo tie with cadet blue stripes. He also dons midnight blue pants with a black belt in the middle, and burnt sienna shoes.

Personality

Risuke is an energetic and charismatic young man with the ability to invent appliances that are unfamiliar to Kuniha. He also sketches blueprints for his upcoming appliances that are going to be introduced or released in the future.

Trivia

Main

  • His surname, Matsushita, is a nod to the founder of Panasonic, Konosuke Matsushita.
    • While his given name, Risuke; consists of two kanji characters: Ri (利) means "benefit" or "advantage", while Suke (助) means "to help" or "assist". Altogether it means "helpful benefit" or "advantageous help", which was perhaps a nod to Panasonic's quality appliances and electronics from the brand.
  • The color palette of his default business outfit is inspired by the Panasonic logo and its headquarters.[1][2]
  • He was born in Fukushima; which was a reference to Panasonic's founding location (The brand's company's previous names back then were Matsushita Electric Housewares Manufacturing Works in 1918 to 1935; then renamed to Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd. from 1935 to 2008).
  • Risuke has a fondness in listening to songs and music-related topics (especially singing). This was a nod to the origin of the brand's name (it came from "pan" ("all"), and "sonic" ("sound")); and his interest in audio speakers.[3]
  • Kuniha, who was Risuke's female counterpart, has an inseparable family-like relationship with him. This was based on the formation of the combined brand National Panasonic in the 1980s.[4]

Other

  • Risuke loves listening to old novelty hit songs on the radio.
  • His favorite product he made so far back then was the Panapet, a radio developed in the 1970s.
    • Humorously, the Panapet became his character item.
  • Risuke's modern innovations often lead Kuniha into bewilderment.
