Pencil-chan (Japanese: 鉛筆ちゃん) is the official mascot of the doujin circle, PENCILCASE SOFT.
History
Pencil-chan, who's real name is Enpitsushiro Mirai (Japanese: 鉛筆崎未来)[1] represents the amateur doujin circle PENCILCASE SOFT. She appears on their website and several other endeavors they've worked on.[2]
She was drawn in the summer of 2024, and made public in June of 2024. Notably being a drawable character on her artist's artfight profile.[1]
Portrayals
Pencil-chan is always portrayed as a girl with pink eyes, and yellow hair. Her hair is put into a ponytail, in which the ponytail resembles a pencil. It is canonical that the ponytail functions as an actual pencil, and does need to be sharpened often.[2]
She also has a twin sister named Pester-chan, who is the mascot of PENCILCASE SOFT's sister site, Kakikudoku.[3]
It is noted that Pencil-chan and Pester-chan do not get along very well. This is portrayed through a site easter egg. If you click on a page that has not yet been made public on the PENCILCASE SOFT website, you're greeted with an image of Pester-chan with one foot standing on a Pencil-chan who appears to be dead that reads, "THIS PAGE DOESN'T EXIST YET". The bottom of the page reads, "pester-chan wins in the end :3".[4]
Pencil-chan is described as being an airhead who oftentimes has a tendency to snap. Contrary to her nature, she's not very sharp. However, she has a need to create things and always loves to sketch whatever she's thinking about.[2]
Her birthday, as well as her sister's, is on March 30th. March 30th is National Pencil Day.[1]
