NT-ko (Japanese:ＮＴ子), also called Natoko (なと子) and Mika-chan (みかちゃん), is a magical girl character personifying Windows NT.

Her full magical girl name is Compact Girl VMS+ɑ NTko-chan (CompacとGirlVMS+ɑＮＴ子ちゃん).

History

An early sketch of NT-ko was uploaded to Dive Girl Bigblue Merlin-chan's website on December 8, 2000. Her civilian design was later refined in December 12 of the same year, and her magical girl design was finalized in January 10, 2001.

Character

NT-ko is portrayed as a rich class president with a bright personality, and a rival to Merlin-chan, who couldn't beat her in academics. She seems to be under the control of Sudo-senpai's swan, Cygnus, who tasked her to hunt down Merlin as a magical girl. It was said that Merlin-chan and NT-ko are blood-related, but neither are aware of it.

Early sketches of NT-ko describes her as a "royal heroine-type rival."

Trivia

• The "VMS" in NT-ko's magical girl title may reference the VMS operating system, which influenced the development of DEC MICA, which in turn heavily inspired the architecture of Windows NT.
  • NT-ko's nickname Mika-chan may also be derived from MICA.
• NT-ko and Merlin-chan being blood-related may reference the IBM-Microsoft alliance. OS/2 was jointly developed by IBM and Microsoft from version 1.0 in 1987 until version 1.3 in 1990, before the breakup of the alliance.
• According to the Merlin-chan website illustration page, if NT-ko would have a voice actress, it would be Mayumi Shintani.
