Mikko's imposing stature and stoic demeanor often made him look cold or even intimidating. However, he is far from being short-tempered or violent. In fact, he tends to spend most of his energy studying and practicing engineering and metalworking, or fishing in the lakes of Lumi, away from most people. Mikko views his demeanor as a way to adapt, and only resorts to intimidation when necessary.

While Mikko seem to appear guarded and solitary, it is evident that he cares for others' well-being. Many of the objects he builds prioritize ergonomics and are meant to last for a long time. He also has an interest in interior and furniture design. In contrast to the bold and glamorous architecture of the 1980s, Mikko's designs tend to be more minimalistic and natural.

Mikko's crafting skills and reliability earned him the nickname of "The Digital Sampo."[1]
