Kasumi Rodo (Japanese: 霞 ロード) is a character from the Bootleg Idol Academy series.
Rodo is a personification of FuckYouBill2009.
FuckYouBill 2009 is a bootleg Windows XP SP3 edition, which was created by Piter Pen and Goletsa of Melkosoft. It released on December 27, 2009.[1]
Her name, Rodo, is a katakana spelling of the word "Load". Her surname, Kasumi, is a Japanese word for "Mist". "Kasumi" was chosen due to the default wallpaper used in the FuckYouBill 2009 OS, which shows a darker and stormy looking variant of the Windows Bliss wallpaper.
Appearance
Rodo is a girl with darker tan skin and bright blue eyes. She has multicolored hair, with the main pieces being a dark green. She has undertones and pigtails colored a dark blue. She wears a dark grey shirt. Over this shirt is a striped hoodie colored grey and black. Rodo has multiple black piercings covering her ears. She also wears a black choker around her neck. Rodo is often seen holding a middle finger, in reference to her OS, "FuckYouBill".
Personality
Rodo is a rowdy girl with no inhibitions. She doesn't understand social cues very well and has a tendency to come off as extremely rude without meaning to. Under her rough exterior, she is actually quite sensitive. She takes all of her criticisms very personally. Rodo will often close herself off and detach herself completely from others when she feels judged or criticized.
Rodo's behavior is due to an extreme case of Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria, meaning that criticism can often lead her to extreme mood swings and destructive behaviors. RSD is a symptom of ADHD, which Rodo suffers from.[2]
Rodo has a deep hatred of Bill Gates, the creator of Microsoft. Sometimes, when angry, she blames her problems on him. The reason for this hatred is never specified.
Backstory
Rodo is a transfer student in Japan from Russia attending the Operations Academy. She is a third year university student, but started her education in Russia. Upon being enrolled into Operations Academy, she submitted a falsified serial number claiming she was an officially recognized Operating System. For a brief period of time, she was allowed into the recognized Operating System dormitory and made herself at home. Although, it was later found out that she was using a keygen to enroll into the recognized Operating System curriculum. Rodo was using her space in the dormitory to spread troll messages about her hatred of Bill Gates.
Upon finding out, Operations Academy considered revoking her student role and sending her back to Russia. However, those at the independently recognized Operating System staff team pointed out that the Operations Academy was suggesting too harsh of a punishment, and that they were biased against unauthorized systems. Rodo ended up in the independently recognized Operating System dormitory with the other unauthorized systems, and as a punishment for her wrongdoings, was forced into remedial classes.
While in remedial classes, a visit with the school counselor revealed that Rodo had a deep interest in music. She always wanted to start a band. The counselor reveals that, while the officially recognized Operating Systems are not permitted to form groups outside of their intended purpose (to serve their "Users), independently recognized Operating Systems have no clear intended purpose as they are unauthorized systems. This means that, by Operations Academy rule, Rodo could form a musical group if she really wanted. The counselor offered assistance.
After a few meetings with potential members, it was decided that the independently recognized Operating Systems did have an intended purpose. To become a world famous idol group! From that day on, Bootleg Idol Academy was born.
For a short period of time, while learning to rap, she gave herself the stage name of F.Y.B. However she ditched it due to receiving a teasing comment about it.
Relationships
- Denren Buta - The first potential member of the idol group. The two have very clashing personalities, but find solace in each other as best friends. Buta and Rodo are both a part of the subgroup, BIA: XPize
Trivia
- Another operating system called FuckYouBill2007 does exist. There is no direct personification of this system yet, but it is mentioned offhandedly as being named "Nanado". Nanado is the supposed long lost older sister of Rodo.
- Rodo's favorite food is Medovik.
- Rodo is not of any Japanese descent, contrary to her name. Her birth name was Zagruzka Tuman (Russian: загрузка туман) which has the same meaning as her Japanese name. However she much prefers her Japanese name and doesn't respond well to her Russian name.
- Seeing photos of Bill Gates causes Rodo to go into a state of malfunction. She gets too angry for her system to even process.
