Hikaru Aizawa (Chinese: 藍澤光) is a moe mascot designed by Microsoft Taiwan to promote Microsoft Silverlight, and later Azure.

History

Hikaru Aizawa first appeared on the Microsoft Taiwan's Silverlight website on September 27, 2010[1]. She was originally planned for Microsoft Taiwan's 2010 Tech Days campaign[2], to promote Microsoft Silverlight.

On September 5, 2014, an alternate design representing Microsoft Azure was announced via her official Facebook account[3], effectively also making her the mascot of Azure in Taiwan.

Hikaru is the last of four sisters, after Yu, Aoi, and Lei[5].

According to the Inori Aizawa / 藍澤 祈 Album of the Nanami's Facebook Account[6], Hikaru is the cousin of Inori.

Trivia

  • In 2014, Microsoft Taiwan launched a web game called My Azure Girl to promote Azure. The main character of the game was Hikaru Aizawa, the Silverlight mascot. The game was similar to Tamagotchi: players earned points by completing tasks both in the game and on Azure. These points could be used to buy clothes for Hikaru and upgrade her. The tasks included interacting with the character, taking care of her, deploying websites, and managing services.
  • After the discontinuation of Microsoft Silverlight in October 2021, Hikaru Aizawa's original designer Shinia repurposed her character for a dating sim game called Brilliant Starlight Secret Love (星光燦爛 Secret Love)[7], and renamed her Hikaru Hoshi.
