Balsa-Miko (Japanese: ばるさ
History
She first appeared in 2008 on the cover of the Exit Trance album "Uma Uma Dekiru Trance wo Tsukutte Mita", which featured the first Japanese release of the song Caramelldansen.[1]
She would later make an appearance in their music video for the song, alongside other Exit Tunes characters Mako and Miko, Dahlia and Aria, Yuzuha, Misty, Sakiho Kasukabe and Allegro.[2]
A counterpart character, also used for the Uma Uma Dekiru Trance series, would later be created, named Futae-Miko. Both characters would recieve small figurines packaged with later album releases.[3]
Character
Her name is derived from a common misheard lyric of Caramelldansen in Japan: "Dansa med oss, klappa era händer" being misheard as "バルサミコ酢やっぱいらへんで (barusamiko-su yappa irahen de)", translated as "I don't want any balsamic vinegar at all".[4]
