Antecco (Japanese: アンテッ子ちゃん, Antekko-chan) is an official mascot of the Taiwanese PC company, Antec, in Japan.

History

Antecco presumably debuted in 2008, as Antec's official mascot used for several merchandise releases in Japan.

The first documented merchandise release was on the 19th of December in 2009. Alongside other mascot characters from PC companies (notably ENERMAX and CORSAIR), there were mouse pads sold with printed images of Antecco. These were distributed by Lynx International.

The mouse pad was made from a laminated surface and had the ability to hold notes. The back was made of non-slip natural foam rubber material. The mouse pad was compatible with optical mouse for smooth mouse operation.

There were several Antecco illustration contests. The first of which took place in 2010 with an entry time between November 11th to December 26th. The voting period was between November 11th and January 2nd. An "Antec Novelty Gift" was given to everyone who participated. The grand prize was a "P193+CP-1000".

On December 17th, 2010 all the way up to January 31st, 2011, those who purchased an Antec PC case or power supply unit would be entered into a drawing to win a limited edition mini calendar featuring illustrations of Antecco and Antec-kun for 500 selected winners.

In 2010, Antec alongside Tsukumo released a collaboration pair of gloves featuring illustrations of Antecco and Tsukumo-tan. Anyone who purchased an Antec PC case, Antec power supply, or a Gigabyte motherboard at TSUKUMO eX would receive a “Tsukumo-tan x Antekko-chan Collaboration Gun Glove” as a present.

There have been several other promotions since including keychains, stamps, figures, stickers, and more.

As of 2022, there is an active Twitter account dedicated to Antecco. It started unofficially, though it has been interacted with by the official Antec Twitter. Therefore it can be considered "recognized".

Portrayals

Antecco is portrayed as a 14 year old girl. There are PC cooling fans on top of her head attached to her twintails. The ahoge on top of her head stands up to represent expandability. She holds a powerful power supply in her right hand. Antecco is approximately 149cm tall (roughly 4'8). Her hobby is surfing, and her favorite food is California rolls. This is likely a reference to Antec being founded in California. She is a fan of death metal music.

The character she is seen with is a small yellow creature named "Antec-kun". He is 22 years old (the same age as the founder when Antec was founded). He is slightly perverted, and his hobby is peeping. He enjoys all sorts of food, but he only listens to Santana.

When both of them were introduced, a Lynx International spokesperson said, "“The showroom staff wrote the character for the PR magazine. We hope you will take good care of Antecco and Antec-kun as well."
