Alan Manzano is a character in UNIVER.SYS. He is a Techne from Prismage.

History

Alan's character dated back to UNIVER.SYS' beginnings as Silicon Medley in 2020. An updated design will be made later in 2024.

Character

Alan is confident and extroverted, known for his chaotic, colorful artworks and equally bold sense of humor. He can also be quite resourceful, and possesses skills in art, music, and engineering. Back in the late 1970s, his larger-than-life persona quickly made him well-known by people and other Techne, and he sometimes got invited to schools for teaching. Compared to his laid-back brother Ash, Alan is more emotional and tends to take things more seriously.

In the 1980s, Alan took a more serious role in Prismage due to Ash stepping down and debut of new Techne such as Lisa and Masaki. He tries his best to be a good mentor figure to the two of them, and is proud of them nonetheless, despite the two taking a different path from Prismage's countercultural roots.

  • Alan represents the Apple II series of computers by Apple Inc., the first Apple II computer was released in June 1977.
  • His last name is Spanish for apple trees.
  • Alan's diverse skills in both art and engineering are inspired by how Apple II was known as the first widely commercial home computer with color graphics, and the computer's resourceful engineering shortcuts to cut production costs.
  • His love of video games is based on how the founders of Apple used to work for Atari.[1]
