2K-tan (Japanese: 2Kたん, 2K-tan), also known as Nisen (ニセン)^{[Challenged]ⓘ}, is an OS-tan that personifies Windows 2000.

History

She probably debuted in 2003, presumably in a Futaba Channel post which image has been saved in the OS-tan Vault.

She appeared as one of the main characters in the Trouble Windows Opening published on April 2004.

Portrayals

Serious and competent, she is often depicted as Me-tan's guardian and an older sister to XP-tan.^{[Challenged]ⓘ}

2K-tan is often portrayed as serious, to the point that she is not a fan of playful behavior. She is also recognized by both herself and others as a "reliable woman" who is a behind-the-scenes force and a career woman, so she is often placed in a role that is detrimental in some way, and because of her competence, she tends to be put in unfortunate situations.^{[Challenged]ⓘ}

Some interpretations portray 2K-tan as the daughter of NT-Mama and a younger sister to Inu-T. However she finds Inu-T's carefree and dog-like personality to be annoying, so she tries to keep Inu-T out of her house, since she is afraid Inu-T will destroy everything inside.^{[Challenged]ⓘ}

Trivia

• 2K-tan has a small white bonnet or ruffle like a maid with cat like ears as hairclips. The hairclips are a pun: "2K" in Japanese is "Ni-Ke", which turns into "Nya-Ke". The meowing sound in Japanese is "nya".
