Nanami Madobe (窓辺ななみ)
Nanami Madobe was a mascot that represented Windows 7 in Japan.
History
She made her debut with a Windows 7 preorder campaign that started on September 25, 2009, and offered a limited bundle with a disc containing Nanami wallpapers and system sounds, that came with 7,777 preordered copies of Windows 7 Ultimate. However, a Twitter account for her was already created on September 14 2009, tweeting news related to Windows 7.
Since then, campaigns featuring her were regularly run to promote Windows 7. A notable one is the Happy Windows 7 Campaign launched on March 12, 2010, which brought her signature Seven Color Generator song, that was also reused in the notable commercial featuring her that was screened a couple of months later.
Even well after the release of Windows 8 in 2012, Nanami remained active along with the newer mascots Yū and Ai Madobe. The Madobe Characters were even featured in the Comic Markets 83, 84, 85 and 87.
After the Windows 10 Pro DSP 2015 Winter Campaign, she did not make any major appearance until 2019, during which there were campaigns featuring her and Tōko Madobe to prompt people to upgrade to Windows 10 as Windows 7's End of Support (EoS) approached. She made a final appearance in her Graduation Campaign which ran from December 1, 2019 to January 14, 2020, which was Windows 7's EoS date.
Profile
Nanami was born on April 6, the day her father was setting up Windows 3.1. At the time her profile for the Webcomic was written, she was in her first year of college, and then later graduated. Her family consists of her parents, an older brother, and an older sister. Both her father and brother are PC junkies. She is a cheerful person with a bit of a screwed-up side. When Windows 7 was released, her best friend asked her to work part-time at a parts store, even though she is not used to it.
She appears to own a cat.
