Principles, Rules and Guidelines
We aim to provide a warm and safe place to learn and share about moe as well as spend some enjoyable and inspiring time. In order to achieve this, we have established the following Principles, Rules and Guidelines that Moeverse Members and anyone interacting with the Community shall follow. Intentional or repeated failure to do so may result in measures being taken. Do not join nor interact with our Community if you cannot agree with or follow our Principles or Rules.
Principles
- Welcoming place. Anyone abiding to our Principles and Rules must feel comfortable at Moeverse.
- Respect others, this is self evident. But also, respect their works, copyrights, and their Characters. Do not make or share offensive, obscene, mocking or other objectionable derivative works, misrepresent Characters or settings, do not commercialize works without clear permission, claim other's works as yours, etc.
- Passion. We expect you to be passionate about moe! Well, at least to have some positive interest in moe.
- Standards. While we do not set a bar regarding skills since any level is welcomed, we also want to keep Moeverse a clean and decent place. So please refrain from submitting bad taste or low quality content even if they may seem funny or interesting to you. There are other places for these.
- Cohesion. Do your best to go along with everyone from the Community and support the Moeverse Projects.
Community Rules and Guidelines
These complement and may overlap with the Principles to support and emphasis them.
- Follow standard behavior rules like expected by most communities. Behave well, respect others. Do not post any abusive, slanderous, hateful, threatening or any other material that may violate any reasonable law, be it of your country, the country where the Project is hosted (Switzerland) or International Law.
- Keep the content suitable for the general public. Do not post obscene, vulgar, erotic, excessive or non pertinent violent content, or other questionable content.
- Have high standards. Refrain from making low effort or low quality posts, replies or submissions.
- Be positive and uplifting. We are sorry if you are currently living a hard life, but please refrain from venting about your problems. We also want to be a place where you can forget about them!
- Encourage sharing. By posting your Original Works on Moeverse, you agree that others from the Community may make derivative works subject to the present Principles and Rules and share them within Moeverse. In the other direction, you are encouraged to do the same. Please share difficult to find interesting information and media rather than keep them for yourself.
- Be open minded. Do not merely dismiss an idea or its proponent unless it is clearly harmful, offensive, or against the Principles or Rules. Accept that others may think differently about a particular matter and never judge others for any reason.
- No conflicts/dramas. They have no place in Moeverse. Avoid posting controversial content, targetting a certain person or group, or talking about divisive topics. If you see something that you may strongly disagree with, remember to be open minded, and assume that the user does not have ill intentions and probably has valid reasons to think in a certain way. Do not assume that a statement is specifically about you or your practices.
- Respect people's works. Creators may have different skills and may or may not strive to improve them. Please respect people's works, no matter if it was done by a beginner or a professional. Even with good intentions, do not give advice unless explicitly requested as this could be misinterpreted and cause avoidable conflicts. Respect copyrights (see below).
- Keep discussions on topic, talk about moe or subjects within the scope defined by a given place.
- Respect the Moeverse Project and its Community. We are never looking for problems with others. In the other direction, we ask you to do the same and respect our Project and Community. In case there is a particular conflict with a Community Member, please settle any personal matter without involving the rest of Moeverse. We will take action if the Member in question is deemed to act against our Principles and Rules and damaging our reputation.
- Maintain good faith, do not try to find loopholes to justify bad behavior.
There may be additional Rules established on the Moeverse Projects such as the Moeverse Wiki, they must naturally also be followed.
Copyrights
We respect authors and their works. However, we also think that legitimate documentation and culture preservation are important, and strictly following copyright conditions unfortunately often impedes with these reasonable purposes. For this reason, we may make good faith use of some copyrighted content even though we might not always be granted a formal permission to do that. We established some rules regarding the use of copyrighted content in order to respect as much as possible the copyright holders. We may consider to tighten the rules or even strictly enforce copyrights in the future. It is also worthy to note that the country in which Moeverse is hosted does not have the concept of fair use.
- Unlicensed content may only be used if all of the following are satisfied:
- It is an essential and representative element for a documentation or archival purpose.
- There are no reasonable licensable substitutes for this purpose.
- The copyright holder is no longer active or cannot be reached anymore, or the work is part of a whole that is no longer exploited, or access to the work is not trivial (for example an archive or third party gallery needs to be used).
- Its use will not negatively affect the copyright holder in any reasonable way.
- It is fine to share unlicensed content at ephemeral places like discussion channels, unless they fall into any of the following cases, in which it is never allowed to use or share them:
- It is a work, large part of a work, or substitute of a work, that is still commercialized via official means or was until less than 5 years ago, and legally inaccessible otherwise.
- The copyright holder has explicitly expressed to be upset about unauthorized uses of the material or is known to be particularly aggressive on the matter.
- Using the material puts the Project at any unreasonable risk.
- The copyright holder explicitly forbid its use in Moeverse or has already requested removal of any of their copyrighted material.
In the case you are a copyright holder and would like to have owned content removed, simply contact us, prove your identity, and we will comply. We are sorry for any inconvenience caused by the unauthorized use of your material.
If you decide to publish your own Work on Moeverse, you agree to authorize others from the Community to make derivative works subject to the present Principles and Rules and share them within Moeverse, and the Project to display your work on any Moeverse site or associated places such as social accounts at will. You can remove your original content at any time on request or by leaving our Community.
